Algeria - Ketchaoua Mosque

Ketchaoua Mosque (Djamaa Ketchaoua) is a mosque in Algiers, the capital of Algeria. The mosque was originally built in 1612 during  Ottoman era. Later in 1845, during French rule it was converted to the Cathedral of St Philippe, which remained so until 1962. The old mosque was demolished between 1845 and 1860 and a new church was built. It was converted back into a mosque in 1962.
